Finally I've got to see these exhibitions in Mingei International Museum. Four equally interesting shows in the same time:

Started with San Diego's Craft Revolution. Absolutely fabulous collection of designs from San Diego area from post war to 70's. Jewelry, pottery, furniture... The show represents wonderfully the new meaning of "Craft".

And three exhibitions on the second floor:
A FANTASTIC VOYAGE
THE ART OF YNEZ JOHNSTON.....
Ancient symbols,mythology,....some painting reminded me even of cave paintings

In the next corner is:
NEW JEWELRY IN A NEW MEDIUM
The Art of Polymer Clay...
Fantastic, detailed jewelry... just fascinating what can be done with polymer clay...

And my beloved Finnish Design!:) Northern Stars
No doubt I like their textiles, furniture, glass art, ceramics, Alvar Aalto,Timo Sarpaneva, Marimekko, Fiskars, etc... but what I most admire is their philosophy, they approach, the way they see "design" as the art of everyday life, for everyday people, not as a luxury for the elites and privileged.

Mingei - as always - did an exceptional job presenting these outstanding artists. Without using big words, but after visiting Mingei you always become a little better person. And we know - every little thing counts!:)

A kovetkezo kiallitas a 91 evesen is alkoto Ynez Johnston festmenyei, szobrai...Engem leginkabb osi barlangrajzokra emlekeztettek. Modern mitologia....

A harmadik resz a Polymer Clay ekszereke. Minden csodalatom es tiszteletem az agyaggal dolgozo muveszeknek, bamulatos reszleteket tudnak "kigyurmazni" ! :) Vegtelen lehetosegeket rejt ez az anyag!

Es vegul a Finn Design kiallitas....!! Butorok, ekszerek, formatervezes,design nagyjai: Alvar Aalto, Timo Sarpaneva, Marimekko, Fiskars..stb. Termeszetesen csodalatosak es nagyon szeretem oket - de nekem leginkabb a finn stilusban a filozofiajuk tetszik, ahogy mindennapiva es elerhetove teszik , hogy mindannyian szep, igenyes, muveszi szinvonalu targyakkal vehessuk korul magunkat , hogy mindez ne csak egy elitista luxus legyen.
Kerulven a nagy szavakat, de Mingei most is, - mint mindig olyan kiallitast csinalt, ahonnan egy kicsit jobb emberkent tavozik a latogato. S tudjuk, minden kicsi szamit....:)

Japan meets Scandinavia

Just out of the kiln. A new serving plate to show before it goes to the store. I'm a big fan of the Finnish - Scandinavian design so I've been working on my own version. A new collection is on its way - which was inspired by the Scandinavian style: contemporary, simple, pure and affordable. This is the first piece: Japan meets Scandinavia - a sushi plate with Scandinavian flair:) I used turquoise glass and applied the design with black glass paint. The top glass is clear. I'm not sticking to the traditional Finnish minimalist, earth-toned colors - my intention is not to copy them... just to play with the idea, being inspired by the style. And it is fun! :)

Egyenesen a kemencebol - es nem bukta:) Nagyon szeretem a skandinav dizajnt, s most a sajat verziomon dolgozom. Itt Japan talalkozik Skandinaviaval - sushi tal, finn inspiracio.:) Nem ragaszkodom a tradicionalis skandinav szinekhez sem - ezen turkiz az uveg, fekete a minta.

Once again, as a member of The Artisan Group we have another great opportunity to help out a worthy charity, this time our donations will benefit The National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, Connecticut Chapter.

It is a devastating, terrible chronic illness and patients desperately need effective treatment options. To provide these options, continuous research and development is absolutely crucial which relies on joint efforts of private industry, government and charitable individuals and groups. Only this collaboration can lead to better treatment and eventually a cure.

Valentine's Day is coming soon and so Etsy turned red - loving hearts in
every shape and media. I know many of you do not like this holiday - I
have no issue with it and I even do not mind that the flower and
chocolate shopkeepers and greeting card sellers benefit, too. I wish no
worse thing would happen ever!:-)

There will be no heart-shaped jewelry from Glassimo - but a bit more red

Mindenekelott nagyon boldog uj esztendot mindannyiotoknak!

Az ev elso blogbejegyzese sokszor osszefoglalo az elmult ev esemenyeirol - talan nekem is ezt kellene tennem - de nem teszem. :) Nem teszem, mert nem vagyok nagy osszegzo, szamveto, lezaro, ertekelo- masreszt pedig a blogban folyamatosan irok a munkamrol, esemenyekrol, nem szeretnem ismetelni magam. Akarmilyen nehez is volt az elmult ev, volt benne jo es rossz, jojjon az uj ev, "tiszta lappal. Igyekszem valtoztatni amin tudok, s elfogadni azt, amin nem. Ez persze csak leirva ilyen egyszeru, mar-mar kliseszeru - de ennek semmi koze az evszamokhoz. Rengeteg uj otletem van, uj technikakat szeretnek magamnak kikeserletezni - mint eddig is, ezutan is mutatni fogom mire jutok veluk!:)

First of all, happy new year to everyone!

Usually the first blog post of the year is a review of the last year -
perhaps I should do the same but I decided not to follow this
tradition:-) Firstly, because I am not too good at summarizing.
Secondly, I always write in the blog about my work and current events.
No matter how difficult the last year was there were good things and bad
things so I rather try to look forward and do a tabula rasa - I change
what I can and accept what I can't. Certainly, this is easier said than
done but this has nothing to do with what year it is. Anyway, I have a
lot of new ideas and I would like to experiment with tons of new
techniques. As before, I will show them all to you.:)

We had a sudden idea - let's visit Timisoara/Temesvar. It was very
interesting... Temesvar was beautiful and it will be beautiful... but it
is now in between... And few pics from the pre-planned 2-day London
trip... many tourist attractions, too but it is mainly a series of quick
London impressions...

Winter Break

Now a little blog break... I and my family will travel for about 24 hours to spend the Holiday with our parents. From one home to the other home... Where are we home... I stopped to try to determine that. We have two homes - and I don't have identity crisis... Two places to love, more people to cherish.
Christmas time is a computer free time for me... I won't be online - but I'll be checking my emails sometime, so I can be found!:) After this short break I'll be back with new works and fresh blog posts. Look "for the Holiday. Keep it simple yet festive. That's the way I like
it. :) (I wish I could wear this dress - but diet starts on 1st of
January for sure!! :)) And the shoes... Oh boy, can you learn how to
walk in those without falling or holding to the Christmas tree?)

Peak view of Ginnifer's necklace

Ughhhhhh... It was a challenging project!:) When I realized that I have
4-5 days all together to create something I panicked a little....:) One
firing process is about 14-15+ hours... And the way I make a pendant is
not the simplest way.... I don't make shortcuts... I always try to do
things differently... (That's why no Glassimo pieces are look-alike)...
So I had plenty of ideas but no time... And suddenly I just came up with
this glass-lace design... I knew that one of her favorite colors is
red... and I added a little silver... somehow it turned out a little
Japanese - isn't it?:) I hope that she would not mind... I was running
around San Diego to get sterling silver rings.. I did:) And I express
ordered the Italian Sterling Silver Necklace... Thanks God it arrived
fast! Now I need to make some final touches, gift wrap it and write a
card to Ginnifer. And it's ready to ship. :) Let's hope she will like
it - and wear it at least once.:)

Huuuuuu....Volt ebben a projektben egy kis kihivas! Rajottem, hogy mindossze 4-5 napom van alkotni valamit...ami foleg azert keves, mert egy egetes/hutes procedura az minimum 14-15 ora. Raadasul sosem a legegyszerubb modszereket valasztom, szeretek minden darabnal valami ujat kitalalni....Igy volt ez most is. Otletek voltak, ido keves. Szerettem volna "valami mast", eloszor egeszen mas elkepzeleseim voltak - aztan egyszer cssak bejott ez az uveg-csipke otlet. Azt tudtam, hogy Ginnifer egyik kedvenc szine a piros, ehhez adtam egy pici ezustot, egettem jonehanyszor, csiszoltam, ujra egettem...De elkeszult!:) Kozben ezust karikakert szaladgaltam, expressz gyors olasz ezustlancot rendeltem _ Halistennek ideert idoben!:) Meg nehany utolso simitas, aztan csomagolom, irok egy lapot Ginnifernek ( mit irjak?) es feladom. Remelem tetszeni fog - es legalabb egyszer hordani is fogja!:)

Bread Pudding with Fruit Compote

This is a perfect "sweets" for a lazy Sunday morning... or afternoon... or any time when you want something easy, light, yet comforting. The "hands-on-time" is only 15 mins. The pudding and the compote can made up to one day in advance. Before serving, bring the compote to room temperature and warm the pudding, covered, in 350 F oven for 30-40 minutes. Your family will be so grateful! :)

Serves 10| Hands-On Time: 15m | Total Time: 1hr 40m

Ingredients

4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, cut into small pieces, plus more for the baking dish
8 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
2 cups heavy cream
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 pound challah bread or brioche, cut into 1-inch pieces (about 10 cups)
1 cup fresh orange juice
1 cup dried apricots, cut into quarters
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup dried cherries
2 tablespoons brandy (optional)
Directions

Butter a 9-by-13-inch or some other large, shallow baking dish. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, 1 cup of the sugar, and ½ teaspoon salt.
Heat oven to 350° F. Place the bread in the prepared dish and pour in the egg mixture, pressing the bread down to submerge it. Let sit for 30 minutes, pressing down on the bread occasionally.
Sprinkle the bread with ¼ cup of the remaining sugar and dot with the butter. Place the dish on a rimmed baking sheet and bake until set and golden, 55 to 65 minutes (tent with foil if the pudding browns too quickly).
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the orange juice, apricots, raisins, cherries, and the remaining ¼ cup of sugar and ¼ teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the fruit is soft and the liquid is slightly thickened, 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the brandy (if using). Serve the compote with the bread pudding.

I'm documenting all my work before I'll take them to Los Angeles today.
This is another three-piece set... two snack plates and one serving
plate... The colors are now red, amber, green with a very little
dichroic accent. A little bit more formal - but not much.

Dokumentalom magamnak a "szallitmanyt" , amit ma viszek fel Los Angelesbe. S ha mar fotozom, megmutatom!:) Ez is egy szett, 3 darabos, ket kis talka es egy talalo. Ezuttal piros, zold, barna , plusz egy cseppnyi dichro uveg, amitol kicsit unnepelyesebb, de megsem tul formalis. Arazom, csomagolom, viszem, leadom. :)

Blues and Greens

I have to finish few works before I am able to work on Ginnifer's
gift... This is a small plate set... It is not so easy to photograph
transparent glass - and every monitor is different but they are in
shades of blue and green and between.:)

Just want to show you: I've been working on this 5 pieces set for weeks... and it's finally done! Originally it was supposed to be a sushi set but I think it will work perfectly for any kind of hors d'oeuvres, small plate food, etc.

This is about all the snow we get here in San Diego.:) Some people say it is a good thing others think we're missing out on something - I think that everybody is right!:)
I definitely need to force myself a little to get into the holiday mood.... the weather does not cooperates ( it's raining, it's pouring now).... perfect time to work next to the kiln!:)
I cut few snowflake patterns out of fusible paper and fused them between two clear glass sheet. After that it was slumped into a form.... and voila!:)

Probaltam egy kis havat varazsolni ide San Diegoba - mert nekem a ho az hianyzik!:)
A kis talhoz specialis "fusing" papirbol vagtam ki a hopiheket, egettem ket uveg koze, majd formaba rogyasztottam - tel 12 x 12cm-en.:)

This is my new coaster set which goes to LA's Co-op28 store.
I enjoy designing coasters and plates because of their the larger scale.
This one was created with the Holiday Season in my mind... I wanted a
little spark - but not too much. No reindeers or Santa... so it could be
used all year long. Red glass was paired with amazing iridescent glass.
Iridescent glass was flash-fired with a micro thin layer of metallic
crystal, creating lustrous jewel-like reflected light. The surface is
sometime green-purple, sometimes goldish-blue, sometimes patina-like... all depends on the beam of
light. Very elegant yet simple.You can purchase it in Los Feliz or
contact me for custom orders!:)

A legujabb pohar alatet-szett, ami mar kicsit unnepi hangulatban keszult. Egy kis csillogast szerettem volna, de nem tul sokat!..."Karacsonyost", de nem renszarvasokat, hoembereket:)...Olyat, amit egesz evben lehet hasznalni, -unnepelyes, de megis egyszeru, elegans. Keves szezonalis darabot keszitek,bar neha elkap az ihlet.:)

Etsy is getting bigger and bigger - which means more and more shops,
styles, medium - but it also means that it is harder and harder to find

When I was looking for a brand-name for my glass I wanted something which express light and colors... It was when I first found out about Diwali. Unfortunetly the name was taken but my interest stayed to learn about this celebration. Every year around this time there is a big Diwali Festival in Balboa Park, San Diego. I would not miss it ! Diwali is one of the biggest festival of Hindus, celebrated for five continuous days, where the third days is celebrated as the main Diwali festival or 'Festival of lights'.

The celebration was amazing - enjoyed by people of every religion - it was about joy, happiness and festivity. The clothes....the music.....the dances.... just magical!
( it is intresting that some folk costume make every women like a princess - it is all about to emphasize her beauty,femininity, sexuality...till others (like in Eastern Europe) all of these hide under layers of clothes,headscarf etc...)

Food is important part of every celebration in any nation...so we had an indian dinner - to make the evening perfect!:)

Eloszor akkor talalkoztam a Diwali fesztivallal, mikor nevet kerestem az uvegeimnek. Olyat szerettem volna, ami kifejezi az uveg lenyeget - feny es szinek...Sajnos, a Diwali nev mar foglalt volt, de az erdeklodes maradt. Long Beach Antique Market

3rd Sunday of every month Long Beach/CA is home of the Long Beach Antique Flea Market - named the Top Ten Flea Market in the US. ( on FB ) We were there yesterday! 20 acres, half million antiques, vintage items for sale...unbelievable!:) On a hot day like yesterday it is almost impossible to browse through every vendor's tent - but it was definitely a fun day! (And hard to keep yourself back from buying impulsively.... But I did buy two glass items...:) An old vase (I think it is gorgeous) and another thing – a glass telephone line insulator. I love its color... I might start to collect them!:)

This sushi set was made for the Make Good store. I wanted to design something reserved and elegant. I used three soft colors - off-white, pale gray and pale blue with a small transparent red accent. The colors are the same on all plates, the patterns are different. I think it turned out great!:) What do you think?

This book is a collection of novels from the Twentieth Century. Very diverse, complex book.

I found Ulrike Hamm's site yesterday - and I was amazed by her style - she uses parchment paper - which is a very uncommon material for making jewelry. Isn't she awesome?

I'm happy and I want to share the news with you!:) From now on another
wonderful new shop is going to sell Glassimo items!:) I met Sophia, the
owner of this artsy-handmade shop today and discussed our collaboration.
The shop is in South Park - which is one of my favorite parts of San
Diego. Small shops, restaurants, cafes... A bit reminds me small
European cities where you belong to a neighborhood... Sophia's shop
called Make Good. The shop's philosophy is according to their business card:
"contributing and celebrating our neighborhood, and trying to make it a
little better, one handmade item at a time". I just love the way Sophia
reaches out to local artisans and focuses on her neighbors.

Hot from the kiln

As I mentioned it before, besides new jewelry designs I've been working on plates as well. This is the latest piece just out of the kiln. I used transparent glass in shades of blue and green. Modern. Simple. Glassimo!:)
Ahogy emlitettem, az ekszerek mellett dolgozom uj talakon is. Ez a legfrissebb - epp, hogy szobahomersekleture hult (ekkor lehet csak kivenni a kemencebol -kulonben "sokkot" kaphat az uveg, no meg a keszitoje (meg rosszabb, ha a vasarlo), mert egyszercsak kettetorik a tal...) Nalam altalaban ejszakaba nyulik az egetes-hutesi procedura, igy reggelre marad az izgalmas kemenceajto felnyitasa....:) Nem a kemenceajto izgalmas, hanem, ami mogotte van....:) Mert sokszor egeszen mas, mint amire szamitunk....idonkent nagyon ontorvenyu esemenyek zajlanok ott a zart falak kozott/mogott....:)

New pieces...and old desires / Uj termekek es regi vagyak

Since I came back from Europe my kiln hasn't stop working. (in a colder
climate it would be even more enjoyable:). I'm working to restock my
online and other shops with new items. These pieces will mostly go to
Co-op 28 in Los Angeles. I've already started to work on few other
projects - jewelries and plates as well. (Trying to learn how to use
more effectively my new Kawasaki drill:))
I desperately need a bigger studio - with lots of workspace, storage,
large windows... oh, well...:) Dream on...:) Until then my stuff is all
over the house...:) (as you can see my workspace corner in its full mess
stage... Our dog Gussy/Gizi seems to like it:)

Nagy kihagyas volt ez a 2 honap - kiurultek a boltok (Etsy is es a "valos" boltok is - nem panasz,- orom!:) Ezek a lancok foleg a Los Angeles-i Co-op28-nak keszultek, hamarosan szallitom oket. Kozben mar parallel dolgozom uj projekteken, ekszereken es talakon is.... Es most jon a mai sohajtozas! :) Nagyon -nagyon kellene egy muhely, ahol elfernek, sok munka -es rakodofelulet, nagy ablakok....ohhh, hat igen...:) Talan. Majd. (Amugy is regota tervben a koltozes...) De addig marad a kupi, (lasd mellekelt kep), amit ugy nez ki Gizi kutyank kedvel, mert egesz jol bevackolta magat...:)

Fused Glass Plate

I just want to show you my new plate before it goes to Etsy. New design, different technique. I used glass paint, glass powder and confetti to create this unique look. It was fired two times then slumped into a mold. (almost a three-day process :)). Next, I'll make a four-piece set with similar design. Fun. :)

Szeretnem mutatni az uj talat, mielott megy az Etsy-re. Uj technika, uj dizajn. Ezuttal uvegfesteket, uvegport es konfettit hasznaltam. Ketszer egettem , utana rogyasztottam.:) (Kb 3 napos procedura) Keszul egy 4 darabos szett ezzel a modszerrel. Oket is bemutatom majd!:)

I was at a concert on Saturday. At a remarkable concert! I've discovered
My Brightest Diamond recently so I was very happy to find out that they
were coming to town and perform at Carlsbad Music Festival.
The singer Shara Worden classically trained in opera and play multiple
instruments. I don't even want to categorize her style... Her music is
wild and sensitive, mesmerizing and rough. The lyrics are like poems...
A petite singer with a huge character. LOVE HER!
She is on tour so if you have a chance don't miss her performance. (Or
buy her CDs - the new is coming out in October!)
And here is my one of my favorite songs:

Szombaton koncerten voltam. Egy szuper-jo koncerten! Mostanaban fedeztem fel magamnak Shara Worden, aka My Brightest Diamond zenejet, s igy volt orom, mikor kiderult, hogy felenk koncertezik!:) Nem is probalom behatarolni a stilust, egyszerre erzekeny es nyers, szinpadias es meghitt...Shara kepzett operaenekes, szamtalan hangszeren jatszik, szuggesztiv szinpadi eloado, a szovegek, mint versek, klisek es kozhelyek nelkul..Ahhhh, csodaszep!!! :) Akinek modjaban all meghallgatni,tegye meg - nem banja meg.:)

Hi everyone,

I'm back after a long - emotionally and physically - difficult Summer. Now I'm trying to acclimatize and catch up with my work and my life in San Diego.

We did not have a chance for a "real vacation" (My husband had a conference in Prague so I accompanied him - so that was a two-day short break and few half day visits to Budapest - if you call these vacation - pictures are here).

Hosszu, nehez nyar utan ujra San Diegoban. Probalok gyorsan aklimatizalodni, utolerni magam munkaval es az itteni teendokkel, - az itteni eletemmel. A vakacio ezuttal is elmaradt, osszesen annyi volt,hogy ferjemet elkisertem Pragaba, ahol 2 napos konferenciaja volt, plusz egy-ket felnapos budapesti villamlatogatas - kepek itt.

Long summer

How great it would be if the summer were about wine tasting and testing (see previous blog)... but unfortunately this is not the case. It is turning out to be even harder than I expected - my parents' life is about to change quite substantially - but I do not want to bore anyone and it is much easier t discuss this through email. Most likely I have to rebook my ticket to early September (for a change this does not seem like an easy thing to do either). The next couple of weeks will be indeed quite taxing and we need to use all our logistic aptitude. So, I would like to thank everyone who are helping me and who I can rely on anytime! XOXO

I only have time for brief programs - such as a visit to the "Palace of Arts" where we saw the Moholy-Nagy exhibition... some pictures about it.

I'm leaving for Szeged, Hungary on Thursday. I would be happy if I could write that I was leaving for a carefree summer holiday - but it is not the case. I'll try to help my aging parents as much as I can... But we have few plans (like jazz fest in Romania!:), few trips to the flea markets, galleries, alternative theater, meeting with friends and relatives.... Nothing extra, I don't wish anything more than just to be home, be with my parents - without any health crisis.... My laptop will be with me so I'll check and answer emails etc but less time for blogging... Grilled plums with Greek yogurt & Pistachios

When I first saw this recipe I thought it was a good looking dessert.
But it is not. At least if you (like me) consider dessert as a sweet
treat....:) So I would not call this a dessert... Then what is it? Try
it and decide for yourself - I don't know :) It can be a gourmet
snack... or an interesting side dish for fish or meat... Anyways, it is
worth a try for sure! It takes about 15 min.

Mix balsamic vinegar, sugar, little salt and freshly ground black
pepper in a saucepan. Heat to boiling on medium-high. Reduce the heat
and simmer for 5 min or until reduced by half. Remove from heat and add
plums (cut in half), stirring to coat.
Place plums on hot grill, cut sides down. Grill until charred, brushing
vinegar mixture onto plums halfway through.
Divide plums among 4 cups, top with Greek plain yogurt. Sprinkle with
pistachios and honey. Garnish with mint.

(works well with other fruits such as peaches, apricots, nectarines. Try
substituting pistachios with almonds, pecan, walnut, etc....)

Az ujsagban meglatva, foto alapjan jokepu deszertnek gondoltam. De a recept alapjan rajottem, hogy nem az!:) Marmint, ha a deszertet edesnek definialjuk - marpedig en ugy!:) Ez nem edesseg - de akkor mi? Nem tudom....probaljatok ki, dontsetek el magatok! :) Lehet csak egy rafinalt "nasi", vagy husok, halak melle erdekes koret...15 perc kb az elkeszitesi ideje, ugyhogy mindenkepp erdemes kiprobalni!

Egy serpenyoben keverj ossze balzsamecetet ( 1dl sacperkabe) izlesszerint cukror, frissen orolt borsot. Kozepes homersekleten forrald fel, majd csokkentve a homersekletet meg kb 5 percig kevergetve vard meg, mig felere surusodik. Ekkor forgasd bele a nagyszemu ringloszilvat,(4-5db) amit elozoleg kimagoztal, felbevagtal. Vagott felukkel rakd a grillre, addig susd, mig szep csikos lesz, kozben locsolgatva az ecetes keverekkel. ( Par perc az egesz, tulgrillezni nem szabad, megtottyad:))
Szedd oket szet poharakba, kanalazz rajuk sima (esetleg vanilias) gorog joghurtot, locsold meg mezzel es szord le orolt pisztaciaval. A mentalevel mar csak diszites!:)
Lehet varialni a receptet, mas gyumolcsokkel pl oszi-sargabarack,korte, pisztacia helyett, mandula, mogyoro, dio...(mez helyett en agave szirupot hasznaltam) Jo etvagyat:)

I made these two serving plates as a custom order. If you are an artisan you know that custom orders are always challenges because the client is not able to see the product before it is finished. (At least this is true for glass art) Will she/he like it - or hate it...? My client who ordered these plates said that she likes what I do so technically I got a free hand ... but we talked it through: talked about colors, shapes, styles... She ordered two colorful, modern plates a la Glassimo. :) Because these plates will be on shelves close to each other I've decided that I would use same colors but different patterns - so they wouldn't fight each other:) Now I'm excited and crossing fingers ....I hope that she will like it!:)

Ez a ket talka egyedi megrendelesre keszult. Aki dolgozik megrendelesre tudja, milyen kihivas ez, hiszen a kliens csak a vegeredmenyt latja ( Uvegnel legalabbis ) ....ugyhogy ott az izgalom, hogy tetszeni fog e?:)....Ennel a munkanal szinte teljes szabadkezet kaptam, de termeszetesen megbeszeltuk a stilust, szineket nagyvonalakban...Szines, modern talakat szeretett volna a megrendelo, a la Glassimo. :) Mivel egymashoz kozeli polcokon fognak lakni, ezert ugy dontottem, hogy azonos szineket hasznalok mas mintazatban....Igy remelhetoleg nem fognak veszekedni!:) Remelem sikerult a feladatot megoldanom, s hetfon boldog tulajdonosahoz koltoznek a talak!

Sunday Morning at the Dog Beach

What can be more relaxing activity than taking your dog to a beautiful dog beach?:) Gorgeous weather, sunny day, dark blue ocean, light blue sky, cute dogs, friendly owners - laid back atmosphere... So, we took our dog Gussy (Gizi) to Dog Beach in Del Mar. For most dogs it is a paradise.... For our dog? Well..... not really.:) She is not a water-loving type:) To be more precise, I think she is scared of the sound of the ocean...( She is scared of hot balloons, too, which have similar sound) So, the minute we arrived to the beach, she started to pull back.... back to the car or wherever, she wanted to be anywhere but there...:) We tried many tricks to get her closer to the water - not much luck.... You could tell she wanted to play with other dogs but had no courage... So we took her a little away from the ocean to the quieter little bay.... and slooooooowly she started to explore the water....:) Testing, testing... should I, could I.... yes...... maybe not.... not sure, but I might...

I know it might be in her blood, not all dogs love water - we don't want to force her, but she might enjoy it a little sometime in the future....:)

But she DOES like sand... so after she got a little wet she rolled about in the sand with smile on her face!:) Great! Now you have to take a bath at home, too buddy!:))

Mi lehet relaxalobb,mint kutyankat levinni a kutya-srtandra?:) Napsuteses vasarnap reggel, sotetkek ocean, vilagoskek eg, jatekos, jopofa kutyak, baratsagos gazdak....

- laza atmoszfera....Szoval, vittuk Gussy/Gizi kutyankat mi is!:) Legtobb kutyanak ez maga a paradicsom....Nos, a mienknek nem egeszen!:) Finoman szolva, o nem egy vizi-kutya tipus:) Hogy utalja e a vizet vagy csak fel tole ezeddig meg talany....Ugy tunik leginkabb az ocean hangja, amitol igazan fel. ( Legballonoktol is fel, azok is hasonlo bugo-zugo hangot adnak). Ahogy megerkeztunk a strandra a mi kis beszarink mar fordul is vissza!:) Olyan erovel tud ilyenkor huzni, hogy arkokat as a homokba!:) Probalkoztunk mindenfele trukkel, hogy kozelebb vigyuk a vizhez....Semmi sem mukodott....Ezutan atvittuk egy csendesebb obol-szeru reszhez, s itt naaaaaaaagyon lassan elkezdte tesztelni a vizet.....: Menjek, ne menjek? Talan igen.....vagy megsem? Nemistudom, jo lenne, jo mokanak tunik.....nem, inkabb nem.....De, megyek....(lasd kepek:)))...

Tudom, nem minden kutya szereti a vizet, azokat gondolom nem hozzak a strandra:)....De nala meg nem egyertelmu, hogy csak fel e vagy tenyleg total viziszony....

Nem akarjuk eroltetni, de hatha egy kicsit megbaratkozik a vizzel.... !?:)

Amit viszont nagyon szeret, az a homok!:) Igy, miutan nagy batran bevizezte a bundajat , hatalmasakat hempergett a homokban, persze ott, ahol az a legfeketebb...:))

Nem baj pajti, most akkor otthon is furodnod kell!:))

Portland,Oregon

A year ago I wrote about Portland, Maine. This time we spent our anniversary in Portland, Oregon:) The distance between the two cities is 3,191 mi (5135 km). ( It is funny and sometimes confusing here in the US that several cities have the same name but it is a topic for another post)

In this Portland we got lots of rain - we cannot complain though - this just the way there.:)It is raining, just stopped raining, almost raining, before rain/ after rain....- I think locals have a big wardrobe full with raincoats in different styles - it is a rainy culture here!:) I DO love rain, but 8-9 rainy months a year maybe a little too much even for me!:) Anyways, rain can't stop people here. It did not stop us either from exploring the city as much as it was possible in few days. Portland has been referred to as one of the most environmentally friendly or "green" cities in the world. We really enjoyed a light-rail which is free and was made in the Czech Republic! We almost felt at home !:)

In this city sometimes I felt in Europe, sometimes in San Francisco, New York... or many areas reminded me San Diego too... Because of the large amounts of rain everything is amazingly green, flowers are blooming like crazy... I like the city 's free spirit, the artsy, crafty, friendly neighborhoods, and that it is the home of Bullseye Glass... etc.... Oh, and the food cars!!!:) They are in every parking lot offering ethnic foods - a great alternative to the commercial fast food... So cool!:)

This is another great city - I feel blessed to have a chance to visit it - even for few days. Few days to remember. If you are interested I'd like to share a few pictures here.

Egy evvel ezelott irtam Portland, Main-i kirandulasunkrol. Az iden is Portlandban unnepeltuk a hazassagi evfordulonkat, de ezuttal Portland, Oregonban. A ket varos kozott kb 5100km a tavolsag.

( Az kulon tema, hogy az USA-ban tobb varost hivnak ugyanugy,ami idonkent bonyodalmakhoz is vezet...:)

Ez a Portland nagyon esos - nem volt ez most sem maskepp. Hol epp rakezdte, hol elallt az eso, hol keszuloben ,hol nyakunba zudult - de egyfolytaban valamilyen formaban jelen volt! A helyieknek szerintem esokabatbol van a legtobb a ruhatarukban, kulonbozo alkalmakra varialva!:)

A rengeteg csapadek kovetkezteben persze minden csupa zold, virag zuhatagok mindenfele...Nem hiszem, hogy sokat kellene locsolni....

A varos amugy is az egyik leg"zoldebb" varos vilag viszonylatban is. Nagyon figyelnek a kornyezetvedelemre - egyik peldaja a varosi villamosok, ami ingyenes, kenyelmes, tiszta es cseh gyartmany!:) Orommel villamosoztunk, kicsit mintha otthon lennenk!:) ( Szegeden is jo villamosozni!:))

Egy nagyon helyes-kedves varos ez, sok szabad szellemu emberrel, muvesznegyedekkel, keptarakkal, kavezokkal, antik boltokkal, piacokkal....es itt a Bullseye Glass otthona is!:)

Jaa, es a sok Uvegtigris!!!:) Minden parkolo tele ezekkel a "bufe kocsikkal" , mintha a vilag minden Uvegtigrise kivonult volna - lattunk ormeny, mexikoi, kinai, koreai, gorog, thai, stb arusokat, akik uj ertelmezest adnak a "gyors-eteleknek". Mennyivel jobb ez, mint a Meki!!! :)

Jo lesz erre a varosra is visszaemlekezni, orulok, hogy lathattam!:) Akiket erdekel, nehany kep itt.

I think this is one of the best, easiest, inexpensive, everybody-can-do-it "green" idea! Paper Bag Collage Floor!
We all have tons of brown bags - usually (hopefully) we just recycle them. But with this technique we can reuse them at home! This fabulous solution is almost free! Looks great, durable, it will camouflage a lot of dirt, easy to clean - just sweep and mop - Perfect for an art studio!

The last few weeks were really hectic for us.... Good and bad things
happened...
From work perspective I've been very busy - which is good!:) As I
mentioned in my previous post the weather was cooperative, I stayed
inside - so I could finish my collection for LA's Co-op 28.
It is so exiting! The "meet and greet" party last Thursday was really
cool, I've met with Marci the owner and few other members of Co-op 28.

Ahogy az elozo posztban irtam, az ido is egyuttmukodott, igy befejeztem a Co-op 28 -nak keszult kollekciot is! :) Szombaton volt a "meet and greet" talalkozo Marcival, az uzlet tulajdonosaval es a tobbi kezmuvessel, muvesszel, akikkel ott fogunk arulni. Nagyon laza es funky uzlet lesz, sok sok eredeti aruval, ruhak, ejszerek,( igy hagyom,ha mar elirtam!:))) papir, bor, textil,..es persze uveg!:)
Szoval izgalmas!:) Nehany kep a Glassimo kollekciobol, mielott utjukra engedem oket!:)

The best season in our garden is May when jasmine starts to bloom! Every
year I wish I could share the magic sense of these lush bushes.
Other plants are getting alive as well.. Just looking at them fill you

Spring Brings Flowers To Home Decor

Floral motifs are everywhere - on furniture, textiles, wall art and accessories. (And on Glassimo of course!:)
The flowers can be small, dainty prints reminiscent of old country cottons, Asian inspired design or large scale contemporary floral - I love them all. (Not together for sure!:)
As I've read it in an interior design trade journal the current hot colors are teal, berries, caramel, sage... (other magazines mentioned other colors and anyway - I like what I like - in spite of trends:))
I would use these floral motifs as a happy accent in any room - but careful, if there are too many of them they start to fight with each-other and it is not pretty!:)

I just LOVE National Geographic's Novica Nation! I spend a lot of time browsing throughtheir site - for inspiration, for its beauty. I love to read about
artisans from around the world. Amazing people with tremendous talent.
Hand-made artist from small villages from Bali, Indonesia, Brazil,
Thailand etc... These artist communities were isolated for centuries by
distance, time and geography - but now we all can discover their unique
arts and crafts. Even though you may not buy anything it is so uplifting
to look at this site. I did my first purchase!:) I'm a big fan of canvas
tote bags (I have a collection:) so I couldn't resist Nareenat's bag! :)
I like its simplicity and color combo.The patterns are printed with traditional batik techniques.Gorgeous! It was exciting to wait for my
package arriving from Thailand!:) And it's arrived - and I fell in love
with the hand-made idea again! It was carefully wrapped with a little
note from the seller... You just feel the "human touch" - you can be
sure it was made with love.

Olyan helyekrol, ahol ezek a kezmuvesek idoben es terben elzarva eltek, generaciok egymasnak adtak at a kezmuves tudasukat - s a "nagyvilag" mindebbol szinte semmit sem latott. Most viszont reszesei lehetunk ezeknek a csodaknak - tobbek kozott Novica-nak koszonhetoen. Nagyon tetszik a taska, tokeletes nyari darab. DE! ennel sokkal fontosabb, hogy barmikor amikor hasznalom, akkor erzem mogotte azt a sokszor hianyolt emberi kapcsolatot.Ez nem egy taska a gyujtemenyemben. Ugy erzem, ezt egy barat keszitette a messzi-tavolban. Sosem talalkozunk de mar kozunk van egymashoz.
S ettol maris egy kicsit elhetobb ez a Fold nevu lakhelyunk. Lehet egy taskatol ennel tobbet varni?

While my glass pieces were in the kiln for a several hours procedure I made this fabric covered button jewelry set. It was fun:) I've started collecting fabrics too from around the world... I DO need a bigger studio ASAP!:)

I don't remember when I saw SG's design first. All I remember that I was
stunned by her originality. Everything she does screams happiness! Her
clothes, textiles, home decors... Just looking at her work makes you
smile. Could there be any bigger achievement? I LOVE her colorful world,
I LOVE her cheerful design, I LOVE her artsy and unique fashion - I have
several favorite dresses, I 'm a big fan of layered look - dress over
pants, etc... I LOVE her gorgeous textiles and fabric - Awwww!! Just so

Szeretem a szines vilagat,ruhait - mindig nagy kedveloje voltam az ilyen reteges szereleseknek, nadragra ruha, stb:) - Nagyon szeretem a lakas textiljeit, anyagait, szonyegeit....Szeretem ezt az egyedi, kicsit bolondos es nagyon boldog vilagot, amit GS teremt.

Blue and Green and Cool and Necklace :)

I wanted to create a casual, funky necklace for Spring. Something simple still stylish. On the pendant I used blue and green glass frit and powder. To keep the low-key style I used multi-strand waxed cotton cord. I think it turned out cool and cheerful. What do you think?:)

Laza tavasz:) A terv pont ez volt....tavaszi,"funky", csavarosan egyszeru lancot kesziteni. Kek, zold uvegport hasznaltam, s "texturazott" uveget - ettol lett kicsit csikos is...A viaszos, tobbszalas zsineg mar a kesz medalhoz keszult. Szerintem vidam darab lett. Szerinted?:)

Weekend, busy mall... a wild duck having fun in the fountain not bothered by
the busy world around her...:-) She dives, swims around, splashes her

I've been working on a new collection - and I'm so excited! These jewelries will go to Los Angeles' new indie handmade store called Co-op 28. It will be opening in June in Hollywood!:) Talk about location....;-)
It is going to be a "modern with a vintage edge" shop. Just what I like!:) I'll keep you posted about the progress.
For now a little creative mess... in the kiln pendants are waiting for their second firing - means another 8+ hour firing and annealing procedure. Oh well, glass fusing is not an instant business!:)

Nagy az izgalom!:) Egy uj "kollekcion" dolgozom, ami egyenesen Hollywood-ba megy!:) Juniusban nyilik az uj "indie" kezmuves bolt, Co-op 28 neven. A tervek szerint a bolt arculata modern egy kis vintage-el megcifrazva. Azt meg ugye szeressuk!:) ) Majd mutatom a folyamatot, most csak egy kis kreativ rendetlenseg....A kemenceben a medalok varjak a masodik egetest. Ez ujbol egy tobb,mint 8 oras egetesi, hutesi procedura. Szerencsere mar a kemencek is komputer vezereltek, elore programozhatoak, igy nem kell mellettuk bebiszittelni!:) Igy is 2-3 nap, mire vegleges formajat elnyeri az ekszer....No, de ki mondta, hogy az uvegezes egy instant biznisz?!:)

Tecate/Mexico is just a few miles from San Diego. You drive for about an hour and arrive in a different world. Although located adjacent to the U.S. border, Tecate is not along the tourist-route. It is one of the most authentic, charming Mexican towns in all of Baja. Local people live their everyday-life there. And this life is not easy. To be precise, for most people life is a struggle there. But what you see are vivid colors, what you hear is music. Everywhere. These people have a different approach to life. They play music and dance even at sad occasions. Their clothes and houses scream of colors! I don't want to be demagogue but we - more fortunate people - could learn a few basic things from them: what is important and what is not...
We were in Tecate on Sunday. Here - after church- everybody gathers in the shadows of large trees in the main Plaza. Native Mexican Indians sell their crafts, locals are socializing, playing games, relaxing or just watching people. Mariachi bands play at the tables (but never bother you so aggressively as in Tijuana)... It is just so peaceful here - I felt myself in a different era. Some says "not much to do here" - no shopping, no galleries, no fancy restaurants, cafes... It is true. But I would say just being there, seeing these wonderful hard-working people, just "doing nothing" what all we need sometimes. Just get out from our comfort zone - and we will be more comfortable with it next time.
And next time we must check out the famous brewery too!:)

Tecate/Mexiko csak nehany kilometer San Diegotol. Kb 1 oras vezetes utan egy teljesen mas vilagba erkezunk. Annak ellenere, hogy ez egy hatarmenti kisvaros, megsem valt turista attrakciova. Itt a helyiekkel talalkozni, s nem turistakkal. A helyiek elik a mindennapi eletuket - s az elet nem konnyu errefele! Az emberek tobbsege megelhetesi gondokkal kuzd. De megis egeszen mas a hozzaallasuk - mas a tulelesi strategiajuk. Itt mindig es mindenhonnan zene szol, a legnyomorusagosabb haz is "csakazertis" vidam szinekben pompazik, itt enekelve temetnek, tancolva unnepelnek. Nem szeretnek demagog lenni, de mi -akiknek tobb szerencse adatott - tanulhatnank toluk nehany alapdolgot..mi fontos,mi nem....

Vasarnap voltunk Tecateban. Itt delelott templomban vannak az emberek, majd osszegyulnek a Fo-teren. Az indianok aruljak a kezmuves portekaikat, ferfiak sakkoznak es mindenfele tarsasjatekoznak ( soroskupakokkal:)) , mariachi zeneszek szorakoztatjak az asztaltarsasagokat,(sosem tolakodoan!), az emberek egyszeruen csak beszelgetnek, elvezik egymas tarsasagat....Az egesznek van egy nagyon bekes, meghitt hangulata! Van aki azt mondja, "nincs mit csinalni Tecate-ban"....Igaz. Nincsenek boltok, aruhazak, puccos ettermek, kavezok, galeriak...De ugy erzem, pont ez amire igazan szuksegunk van idonkent. Eleg csak kicsit megallni, kicsit kimozdulni a kis komfort-zonankbol. Csak elvezni a jelent, egy teren lenni ezekkel emberekkel egy vasarnap delutan. S orulni, hogy mindez megadatik.

Hi everyone, I hope that you all are well!

My dear husband surprised me with a MacBook for my Bday... So I've been
busy to figure the new system out since then...:) My biggest challenge
is that I can hardly find anything... I miss my folders, my own way to
save and organize things - but I started to like this new guy too ...:) I
hope that after few days I'll be in much better shape:)
Even though I used to my PC I had many problems with it which I hope
won't be an issue with Mac... Just takes a little time and patience,
right?:) Right.

And back to my work:
I always wanted to make multi-strand necklaces. They are so much fun,
and can add a little kick to the pendants.... Usually I design the other
way around but for this piece the glass pendant was made for this cord
color-combination:) More to come!:)

Draga ferjem meglepett egy MacBook-al a szuletesnapomon!:) Azota probalok eligazodni az uj rendszerben, tobbnyire semmit sem talalok:) Foleg a sajat jol bejaratott modszereim hianyoznak, amik persze a Mac-en nem mukodnek, de azert remelem par nap mulva mar ugyesebb leszek!:) Egy kis ido, turelem, ugye? Altalaban eloszor keszul a medal, utana valasztok hozza bort /lancot, de ez most pont forditva tortent - gombhoz a kabat!:) Megvettem a borszalagokat - s hozza terveztem a medalt. Szeretem ezeket a tobbszalas bormadzagokat!:) Tobb hasonlo is folyamatban!:)
